The UL Mixed Choir "Dziesmuvara" is recording a music album in honor of its 100th anniversary - support by donating!

On May 10, 2025, the University of Latvia mixed choir “Dziesmuvara” will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a festive concert “Rise With You”. In honor of this event, a unique music album with five new works specially dedicated to the choir were created. They were composed by five bright Latvian composers: Irīna Mihailovska, Līva Blūma, Žanete Spirka, Lauma Kazāka and Annika Lanka.

The inspiration for the new works can be found in the classics of Latvian choral music, but each piece brings a fresh, contemporary sound and the vision of female authors. The recording will take place in the Great Hall of the University of Latvia in collaboration with sound director Reinis Bagāts, and the album will be available on all the major music streaming platforms, such as Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, YouTube Music, etc.

  • Even More Motley Gloves – Līva Blūma / folk song lyrics
  • Evening Song – Žanete Spirka / Kārļas Skalbe lyrics
  • Three Girls Betrothed – Lauma Kazāka / folk song lyrics
  • Death's Tears – Annika Lanka / Kārļas Skalbe lyrics
