August seems to be the most sunny of all the summer months this year, however we can already feel a pleasant excitement for the autumn because of the upcoming new season. The artistic groups of UL Culture Center are also returning with a more active concert life - take a look at the program and find the ones that interest you most!

2 August 

At 15:00 o'clock the UL folklore dance ensemble “Dandari” will perform at the international traditional dance mini-festival "Mazā Rijas Balle" in the courtyard of the Brodužu family house in Plakanciems. Find out more HERE.

From 2 to 10 August

The UL dance ensemble “Pērle” will participate in the Matosinhos International Folklore Festival FESTARTE in Portugal. It is one of the most prestigious traditional cultural events in the country and has been awarded UNESCO and FIDAF quality labels. This year, the festival will be attended by groups from Argentina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Spain, Hungary, Portugal and Latvia. Participation in the FESTARTE Festival demonstrates high artistic level of the group and its ability to represent its country at international level. More info is available HERE.

From 6 to 10 August

UL folklore dance ensemble “Dandari” will participate in the 22nd International Traditional Dance Camp in Rokiškis, Lithuania. The camp's programme offers a variety of workshops on traditional dances, songs, crafts and musical instruments, dance evenings in the evenings, and special activities for participants of all ages. 8 and 9 August

The second edition of "Epos DÜNA" - a grand epos of dance and song that combines tradition with contemporary artistic freedom - is here! More than 8,000 participants will take part, including several groups from the University of Latvia: the mixed choirs “DeCoro” and “Monēta”, the women's choir “Latve” and the alumni choir “Jubilate”. 23 August

The Men's Choir of the Presidium Convention (P!K!V!K) will give a concert at the Lestene Church. More information will follow shortly.

31 August

Mixed Choir “Aura” and the University of Latvia Wind Band will take part in the “Aristotle” - Student Festival of the University of Latvia. During the evening, various popular Latvian musicians will perform on the stage, and there will be activities and competitions to celebrate the start of the new academic year.
