On September 1, the Cultural Center will participate in LU Student Day 2025 at the House of Science. KC will have its own information stand, where we will talk about our amateur art groups, their activities, and opportunities for new members. We will be joined by representatives from TDK "Dancis" and the Student Theater. The area will also feature a free-access piano, a wheel of fortune, and this year's new addition - a photo exhibition of LU collective leaders! A special event is expected this year in the 2nd floor atrium - "Stage Battles," in which the LU Sports Center cheerleaders will compete against DA "Pērle." From September 2 to 22, the University of Latvia will host a special photo exhibition called "Faces of the Cultural Elite," which offers a surprising look at the leaders of well-known artistic collectives at the University of Latvia. The exhibition is open every weekday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the lobby on the first floor at Raiņa Boulevard 19, near the entrance of Merķeļa Street. Learn more HERE.
On September 4 at 6:00 p.m., take the opportunity to meet both the mixed choir "Dziesmuvara" and the guest choir from Munich - "Lucente" in a joint concert "Night-Nacht-Nakts". The concert program will take listeners through the mystery of the night in the spacious acoustics of St. Peter's Church in Riga, featuring works by Johannes Brahms, Christian Behrens, Katerina Gimon, Dan Forrest, Paul Dambis, Raimonds Tiguls, and other composers. From September 5-7, the folk dance group "Dandari" will participate in the festival "Rijas balle," which has become an annual tradition of dance, folk music, and balfolk. The festival lasts three days and offers a wide-ranging program for people of all ages and interests. Take a look HERE.
On September 11 at 8:00 p.m., the Student Theater will perform "Socrates' Last Night" at the international festival "Riga Plays Theater." The festival will take place from September 11 to 14 at the VEF Culture Palace, bringing together theaters from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Croatia, and Bulgaria. More information HERE. On September 13, the women's choirs "Latve" and "Balta" will participate in the "Kurzeme Song Festival in Dobele - 155". More than a thousand singers will gather in Dobele to continue the tradition of the Kurzeme Song Festival. Find out more HERE.
On September 15 at 6:00 p.m., the dance folklore group "Dandari" will perform at EUCYS 2025 - the European Union Contest for Young Scientists. From September 15 to 20, Riga will host the European Union Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS) - the most significant exhibition of scientific research work by schoolchildren in Europe. The organizers of the event invite senior school students and representatives of educational institutions in Latvia to take advantage of this opportunity and visit this unique event. On September 20, the dance folklore group "Dandari" will participate in the "Ethno Days" event in Lithuania. From September 18 to 20, the courtyard of the Klaipėda Ethnocultural Center will become a lively stage for Baltic and Nordic traditions and ethno-experiments. Ethno Days was established in 2022 to mark the 30th anniversary of the Klaipėda Ethnocultural Center. After a three-year hiatus, it returns with an even more extensive cultural program – this year, you can expect groups representing the cultural diversity of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, and Norway. On September 24, the mixed choir "Juventus" will perform at the LU doctoral promotion ceremony in the LU Small Hall.
From September 26 to 28, the LU brass band will be on a concert tour in Poland. Follow their adventures on Facebook.
On September 28, the dance folklore group Dandari will join forces with a Norwegian orchestra for a friendship event at the LU Academic Center. More information to follow.
On September 30 at 7:00 p.m., the mixed choir "Dziesmuvara" will perform at the harvest festival concert evening "Visi dara tā?" at the Angārs concert hall. DA "Austris" will also participate in the concert. More information will follow soon.
