January is a month of new beginnings and inspiration — a time when everyone can take a breath after the December rush and gather energy for fresh ideas. Even so, we have several wonderful events planned for this month. We invite you to explore the January events programme of the University of Latvia Cultural Centre, which will set the tone and bring energy to the year 2026.

11 January at 4:00 PM
At the dance concert Rīgai mijoties at VEF Culture Palace, dance ensembles DA “Dancis” and DA “Pērle” will share the stage with several other Riga-based dance groups. The performance will reveal the distinctive stylistic characteristics reflected in the architecture of the home venues of six capital city dance ensembles: “Austris”, “Ačkups”, “Dancis”, “Daiļrade”, “Liesma”, and “Pērle”.

The concert is organised by the association Youth Dance Ensemble “Austris” and Riga Building College.
Ticket prices range from EUR 10 to EUR 15 and are available here.

17 January at 7:00 PM

DA “Dancis” will perform at the concert Soļi rakstos at the Ķīpsala Exhibition Hall. With this concert, TDA “Teiksma” will open its 80th anniversary season, presenting dances from its rich and diverse repertoire. Audiences will also get a preview of the upcoming Folk Dance Ensembles and Youth Dancers Festival concert One Horizon. Thousands of Paths, to be held in Liepāja in May 2026.

Throughout the evening, tradition and innovation, experience and youth, seriousness and joy will intertwine in dance patterns.
Ticket prices range from EUR 13 to EUR 26. More information and tickets are available here.

24 January at 6:00 PM
