The cultural program in April promises to be quite colorful—just as one would expect around Easter. Soon after the holidays, another celebration will begin as the contemporary music festival “Baltic Music Days” arrives in Riga, continuing on to Liepāja and taking place from April 9 to 17. The festival will open with the concert “Echoes of Other Times”, featuring the University of Latvia mixed choirs “Juventus” and “Dziesmuvara”, along with the women’s choir “Minjona”.

On April 9 at 5.30 PM, a concert titled Prelude to different times. Festival opening in Riga central station by the University of Latvia mixed choirs “Juventus”, “Dziesmuvara”, and the women’s choir “Minjona” will take place at Riga Central Railway Station as part of the festival Baltic Music Days 2026: We Live in Different Times. On April 11 at 6 PM, the University of Latvia Small Aula will host a concert by the alumni mixed choir Jubilate. The program will feature songs from Latin America.

On April 12 at 1 PM, the University of Latvia folk dance group Dandari will participate in the Tirgus Danči (Market Dances) in Viļāni.

On April 17, the German Song Day will take place at the University of Latvia House of Science. The alumni mixed choir “Jubilate” will also participate and perform in this friendship event.

On April 18 at 11 AM, the University of Latvia Student Theatre will perform “The Mosquito” at the Eduards Smiļģis Museum of Theatre. The performance will take place at festival 27th Latvian Student Theatre Dayshosted by Riga Technical University.

On April 25 at 6 PM, the University of Latvia folk dance group Dandari will take part in the “Bračkas 10th Anniversary Event” in Ķekava.

On April 26, the University of Latvia vocal ensemble “Dancis” will participate in a vocal ensemble competition at VEF Culture Palace.

On April 26 at 4 PM, at the Ogre Culture Centre – the musical stage dance performance “Iz zaļa zora”. At the center of the story is a girl who affirms her emotional connection to Latgale and tells the story of a communal work gathering that takes place in her own yard. The performance is based on Latgalian folklore and personal experience stories, and is therefore performed in the Latgalian language.

A bright, joyful, and energetic 80-minute performance featuring the University of Latvia dance ensemble “Pērle” and 13 different musicians: the musical group “Upes muzikanti”, the band “Rūžupis veiri”, and the trio “Bille” (Anna Karele, Katrīna Karele, and Liene Skrebinska). Tickets.

On April 30 at 8 PM, the festival “Sebatants” will take place in Tallinn, also featuring the University of Latvia folk dance group “Dandari”.
